Shopify Bundles is the best starting point for a fixed kit or multipack: it’s free on every Shopify plan and handles component inventory. If customers need to choose items for a mix-and-match box, Shopify’s app won’t do that; consider a third-party option such as Bundler, Fast Bundle, or Simple Bundles instead.

Choose by bundle format and store requirements
A fixed bundle sells a preset group of products. A multipack groups several units, sometimes with a choice such as color or size. In a mix-and-match bundle, the customer chooses which items go into the set. Shopify Bundles supports the first two formats, but not mix-and-match. Shopify says eligible Shopify Plus stores can build a custom bundle offer using its bundle APIs; other merchants can use a third-party app.
Shopify lists Online Store, Shop, Shopify POS, and headless storefronts as sales channels for native bundles, subject to store eligibility. Selling bundles requires an Online Store sales channel or a custom storefront and an upgraded checkout. Shopify also lists checkout.liquid customizations and purchase options such as subscriptions and pre-orders as incompatible.
The native app has defined product limits: a fixed bundle can contain up to 30 components, and a dynamic bundle up to 150. Each component can have up to 2,000 units. A bundle can have up to three options and 100 variants total. Shopify Bundles also lacks bulk import, export, and editing, and it doesn’t track bundle inventory by location. These limits matter when a catalog has many component products or requires location-specific stock control.
Shopify’s bundle eligibility and setup documentation gives the current requirements. To create a bundle in the Shopify admin, open Apps > Bundles > Create bundle, add a title and products, and set any quantities or variants. Save and continue, then set the product status to Active and save to publish it to selected channels.
What the listed plans cost
Shopify Bundles has no app subscription charge. The third-party plans differ in what their free tiers cover: Bundler lists promotion tools for live stores, Fast Bundle’s free tier is for development stores, and Simple Bundles caps its free plan at three bundles and 50 orders per month.
Shopify App Store listings showed these US prices on October 23, 2026. Prices are listed in USD; app charges are billed every 30 days where stated.
Bundler
Bundler’s free plan lists quantity breaks, volume discounts, buy-one-get-one offers, product-page upsells, Shopify POS, and automatic discounts. Its Premium plan is $9.99 per month and adds mix-and-match and tiered mix-and-match; Executive is $19.99 per month and lists bundle analytics. Both paid plans list a seven-day free trial, and mix-and-match begins with Premium.
Fast Bundle
Fast Bundle’s free plan is listed for development stores. Its paid Standard plans are $19 per month or $180 per year for up to $1,000 in monthly bundle sales; $49 per month or $468 per year for up to $3,000; and $139 per month or $1,380 per year for up to $10,000. The listing also offers optional Auto Bundle Detection for an additional $49 per month. A seven-day trial is listed for paid plans.
The app listing includes fixed and mix-and-match bundles, build-a-box, quantity breaks, BOGO, Buy X Get Y, free gifts, and product add-ons. It also lists Shopify POS and integrations for checkout, subscriptions, page builders, and carts. The monthly bundle-sales allowance is an important cost boundary if sales grow.
Simple Bundles & Kits
Simple Bundles lists a free plan with three bundles and 50 monthly orders. Its listing shows Basic at $24 per month or $240 per year for Shopify Basic, plus a separately listed $14 monthly rate for stores with fewer than 100 monthly orders. Grow & Advanced is $39 per month or $390 per year; Plus is $149 per month. The listing states USD billing every 30 days.
The app lists fixed bundles, multipacks, mix-and-match, Infinite Options, and build-your-own bundles. It also advertises inventory sync and component breakdown, and lists Shopify POS, Shop, Hydrogen, Shopify Flow, and fulfillment tools. Simple Bundles’ help center says Infinite Options is unavailable to Shopify Starter stores. Its free plan’s bundle and order caps also matter when estimating whether the app can remain free as a store grows.
How native bundle inventory and orders work
Shopify calculates bundle availability from the quantities of its components, accounting for how many of each item a bundle requires. For example, a kit with two chairs and one desk needs 15 chairs and eight desks to make as many complete sets as possible. The chairs support 15 ÷ 2 = 7 complete bundles, while the desks support eight, so seven bundles are available. Shopify excludes untracked inventory and products set to continue selling when out of stock from this calculation.
In orders, Shopify displays bundle components as nested line items. Where items are handled separately, such as split fulfillment and returns, each component appears individually; orders list the component SKUs rather than the bundle SKU. That structure is useful when fulfillment teams need to pick or return the items that make up a kit.
Shopify calculates a discount on the parent bundle, then allocates it across components according to their weighted prices. Taxes are calculated on the individual components. A component price change does not automatically change the bundle price, so merchants need to update the bundle price in Shopify admin when they change a component’s price.
Which app fits each store?
Choose Shopify Bundles for fixed kits and multipacks when the free app’s limits and checkout requirements fit the store. Its documented component-based stock calculation and component line items are useful when merchants need Shopify to reflect the products that make up each bundle.
Choose Bundler when the priority is quantity promotions or BOGO, with mix-and-match available on its $9.99 Premium plan. Its free plan lists promotion features, while paid analytics are on Executive. The listing does not specify a component-inventory calculation method, so its advertised features alone don’t establish how it will fit a particular fulfillment workflow.
Consider Fast Bundle for a wider set of promotions and build-a-box offers. Its free plan is for development stores, while paid Standard plans tie monthly fees to bundle-sales ceilings. That makes the sales allowance part of the plan choice, alongside the listed promotion features and integrations.
Consider Simple Bundles & Kits for mix-and-match, Infinite Options, or build-your-own offers where component-oriented operations matter. Its listing advertises inventory sync and component breakdown, but the free plan is limited to three bundles and 50 monthly orders. Infinite Options is not available on Shopify Starter.
For a straightforward preset kit, Shopify Bundles avoids a separate app subscription. For a customer-built box, the decision shifts to the third-party plan’s price, free-tier cap, and the exact bundle format the store needs.
